6 tools to create deeper transformation for your clients

transformationIn my 15 years of facilitating Transformational Experiences for thousands of individuals and groups, I’ve come to learn that there are certain skills and elements you need to master as a leader and facilitator in order to be successful at creating lasting shifts, healing and real openings for your participants.

In fact, what I’ve come to see is that without these tools, things can go very, very wrong – your workshops can fall flat or not go deep enough, or someone in the group will dominate and upset everyone else, or you will misuse your energy and feel exhausted and spent.

Here is a snapshot of some of the most valuable tools I’ve developed over hundreds and hundreds of rituals and workshops:

  1. Create and Hold a Tight and Safe Container:

This is the most important tool to facilitating any kind of ritual of transformational experience for an individual or group. If your container is leaky, you will find that participants get bored or don’t go as deep as they could, or get upset at you or others in the group.

From the very beginning – literally from the moment you walk in the room – you must make sure you are creating a very tight container, an environment that feels safe enough for your participants to open up, be vulnerable, share with you and the group, and transform.

And you must make sure you hold that container throughout the work so that it remains tight and doesn’t fall apart.

A Love Letter to the Ones Who Go Deep

If you are a coach, practitioner, facilitator or healer who likes to go deep, you and I are definitely coming from the same place.

I wrote today’s “love letter” and manifesto for you to inspire you to keep on doing what you’re doing and to remind you of the incredible value that you offer.

It’s too easy to lose sight of this in a transformational industry that can sometimes be a bit flashy or surface-oriented.

We created the manifesto as a pretty PDF so that you can print it out and keep it close at hand when you need it.

Here it is: http://JoannaLindenbaum.com/LoveLetterPDF

State of the Union: The Transformational Industry

State of the Union: The Transformational IndustryThe Transformational industry that I love so dearly is rapidly changing right now, and I want you to know what you can do to ensure that you are a practitioner who is totally in integrity, totally fulfilled, totally doing the deep and sacred work you’re meant to be doing…and to ensure that you are one of the practitioners who will actually have staying power as we leap into the next decade of this industry.

Before I get to the critical pieces here, let me say this: I’m going to be sharing some hard truths, but with love and compassion. I want you to know that even with all of the critiques and hard truths I’ll be sharing, I absolutely love the coaching & transformational industries. It is one of the honors of my life to be one of the leaders of the industry. I believe there is so much goodness and so many wonderful practitioners. I believe that we are indeed making a very positive impact in the world. READ MORE

One of the Most Core, Foundational Coaching Principles, Period

In my eighteen years of coaching, teaching, and facilitating…in my 9 years of parenting and working to raise daughters who are secure, confident and at peace…and in my many decades of being a human being communicating with family, friends, colleagues, and strangers…I have learned quite a bit about what it takes to hold space for deep growth, transformation, evolution and aligned action taking.

There is, of course, a lot that goes into this: mastery of questioning skills and listening skills and acknowledging skills and strategizing skills and reflection skills; mastery of working with resistance and working with fear and working with self-sabotage and working with Shadow. READ MORE

6 steps to start working with fear (for you & your clients!)

If you are a soul-centered human being and you’re in business, chances are pretty great that you come up against fears sometimes (or more than sometimes!). If you don’t know how to respond to those fears, they can become massive obstacles in the way of achieving your goals.

Some of the most common business-related fears are:

–Fear of being rejected

–Fear of seeming too “sales-y”

Help Your Clients Get off the Wheel of Sabotage

One of the worst feelings in the world is seeing that a client is engaging in self-sabotage, yet not knowing, as the coach, how to guide her out of this behavior.

When a client is engaging in self-sabotage behavior, it can look like:

  • Client has stopped taking actions toward her goals
  • Client is taking actions that are actually moving her backwards instead of forward
  • Client is in a place of fear, shame and self-judgment
  •
