Quickie Coaching Tool

I had a private session earlier today with a client who also works with a healer.

She was telling me that she was feeling so much pressure because the Healer had intuited something for her to do – to go to the beach for a week – but she just couldn’t figure out how to make that fit with her life.

Every few days the Healer would check in to encourage her to make those beach plans and keep her accountable.

The confusion and the pressure were really causing frustration and fear.

My client shared all of this with me, and I asked her: “What is your inner wisdom telling you about going to the beach for week?”

She paused for a moment and then she said, “My inner wisdom is saying that it makes no sense to go to the beach for a week. I can go for a day here or there over next few weeks.”

So, I asked: “Does that feel like your Truth?”

And she answered Yes.

Next, I shared the following with my client: No matter how amazing and intuitive any coach or healer or anyone is….YOU are ultimately your best and true-est Authority. You know better than anyone, any professional, if something is aligned or misaligned for you. Trust yourself.

Then, I also shared: There is always more than one pathway or action to create the results you want. Going to the beach for a week may be ONE way to create what you want….but there are other ways. Don’t let anyone ever tell you there is just one way.

This is one of those things in the coaching and transformation industry that I feel SO passionate about, and that’s why I’m sharing here: We are all wise; I am positive of it. But we NEVER, EVER know better than our clients. Our job isn’t to tell them what to do. Our job is to hold space, create awareness, support clients to be seen and heard, connect them to their own wisdom, hold them accountable to their desires, work with their fear and resistance….and even OFFER suggestions. But never dictate actions. Ever. Period.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

A Coaching Skill That Will Increase Client Satisfaction

I’m so excited to share this week’s article with you…which actually isn’t an article at all – it’s a short video with some super-important coaching pointers for both beginner and advanced practitioners.

(Please excuse my workout clothes in the video – I get very nervous to do videos. The inspiration struck me right after a workout and I decided to just go with it before I chickened out!).

And if you’d like to watch more videos like this, join me in my Master Coaching and Facilitation FB Group – there are lots of goodies I share exclusively over there!

One of the Most Core, Foundational Coaching Principles, Period

In my eighteen years of coaching, teaching, and facilitating…in my 9 years of parenting and working to raise daughters who are secure, confident and at peace…and in my many decades of being a human being communicating with family, friends, colleagues, and strangers…I have learned quite a bit about what it takes to hold space for deep growth, transformation, evolution and aligned action taking.

There is, of course, a lot that goes into this: mastery of questioning skills and listening skills and acknowledging skills and strategizing skills and reflection skills; mastery of working with resistance and working with fear and working with self-sabotage and working with Shadow. READ MORE

(vulnerability alert) Facing a hard truth about myself

It’s been nearly 3 months since I sent you my last newsletter…which is record-breaking because for many, many years I’ve faithfully shared an article and content every single week.

I’m a big believer in being persistent and consistent, and teach this to my clients all the time. For example – if you’re going to have a newsletter, the way to make it most effective is to send it out regularly. It’s a rule I have lived by.

So why have you not really heard from me since July?

Well, two monumental things happened simultaneously.

The first is that mid-Summer I became TIRED. I’m not talking a little tired; I’m talking the kind of tired that has you want to stop everything, stay in your PJs for a month, and watch bad TV.
