6 tools to create deeper transformation for your clients

transformationIn my 15 years of facilitating Transformational Experiences for thousands of individuals and groups, I’ve come to learn that there are certain skills and elements you need to master as a leader and facilitator in order to be successful at creating lasting shifts, healing and real openings for your participants.

In fact, what I’ve come to see is that without these tools, things can go very, very wrong – your workshops can fall flat or not go deep enough, or someone in the group will dominate and upset everyone else, or you will misuse your energy and feel exhausted and spent.

Here is a snapshot of some of the most valuable tools I’ve developed over hundreds and hundreds of rituals and workshops:

  1. Create and Hold a Tight and Safe Container:

This is the most important tool to facilitating any kind of ritual of transformational experience for an individual or group. If your container is leaky, you will find that participants get bored or don’t go as deep as they could, or get upset at you or others in the group.

From the very beginning – literally from the moment you walk in the room – you must make sure you are creating a very tight container, an environment that feels safe enough for your participants to open up, be vulnerable, share with you and the group, and transform.

And you must make sure you hold that container throughout the work so that it remains tight and doesn’t fall apart.

Energy is Real (& you need this for group facilitation)

Energy is realFolks who experience my retreats, workshops and talks often ask me how I am able to create and lead events where participants feel so present, so vulnerable, so connected to me and each other, and so deeply transformed.

My answer is always the same: MASTERY.

You need to master your coaching and facilitation skills in order to go from leading a “nice” event to leading a “WOW” event.

You need to master your coaching and facilitation skills to create experiences that your audiences will never forget.

Behind the scenes at my Shadow & Archetype Facilitator’s Retreat

It was recently pointed out to me that I don’t often share with you, my beloved community, the profound magic & learning that happens at my training retreats, so here we go!

Two weeks ago I led a special training retreat for Advanced Facilitators to learn how to leverage Shadow and Archetype for greater healing and transformation in their retreats and workshops.

This particular training is one of my favorites and the growth in the room is always astronomical.

One of the reasons I teach this particular training is because I believe it is SO important for coaches, teachers, healers, and workshop leaders to have a firm understanding that in order for their clients to feel fully whole and complete, and in order for their clients to have access to all of their power….they MUST be willing to look at, embrace, and ultimately love ALL parts of themselves.

Not just the pretty parts. Not just the shiny parts. Not just the “acceptable” parts. ALL parts.

Leveraging the Shadow for Greater Client Transformation

One thing I go deep into when I support clients to become Master Facilitators or Master Coaches is to understand the Shadow, all its layers, and how to effectively use it in your facilitation and 1:1 work to help your clients move past limiting patterns and obstacles.

When I train my Master Facilitators on all this in person, a core tenet is that you can’t support your clients with their Shadows if you’re not willing to fully look at your own. And so we go very deep into magically and sacredly helping you journey to the depths of your soul to come face to face and then become friends with your Shadow.

My biggest f*up (and lesson) of 2016

One of my biggest lessons in 2016 was almost one of the most painful.

It started out last Summer when I began the search for new members of my coaching team.

I had a very extensive screening process that lasted a number of months:

First round: fill out a lengthy and detailed application
Second round: create a 3-minute video about yourself and your strengths
Third round: interview with me READ MORE
